February So Far

February 16, 2016 by Michelle Filed Under: Being a Mom, Life Leave a Comment

In case you didn’t know, February is one of my favorite months.  It’s my birthday month and Valentine’s all rolled into one fun month.  Poor Andrew…

It’s been such a great month so far, praise the Lord!!, that I wanted to share some fun things, Blogtember Challenge-style:

Reading:  A few things!  SRT has just started their Lent study {if you’re not doing one, please jump in!!}.  I’m also still reading  For the Love {taking my sweet time on this one – really soaking it in!} and I just recently picked up A Window Opens.

Playing: I feel like this answer is always “with my kids!”, but it’s so true.  The sun is out a little longer in the evenings which has been such a huge blessing.  I feel like I’m racing to get out the office door, then out the daycare door and across town by 5:40 so we can have some really great play-time outside!

Watching:  the hallway…at night.  Reynolds has been doing this thing of sneaking out of his bed and down the hallway at night.  Y’all. I almost screamed one night when I woke up to him standing at the foot of the bed with his hand on my foot.  !!!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!  Then I remembered why my mom told me that if I came into their room at night when I was little that I had to talk loudly.  I think, so she wouldn’t punch me in the face!  NOW I understand!!!

Showing: Y’all!  I have a new logo!!!! Did you see it?! 🙂  It was option #3 in the vote from a couple of weeks ago, and I just think it’s perfect for Camellias & Copper! {I hope you love it!} If you don’t see it, maybe refresh your browser…but please let me know if it looks wonky!!

Cooking:  I have been super slack in the cooking department recently.  It’s the easiest ball for me to drop in all the ones I’m juggling.  And I just don’t have time or energy for it.  By the time we get home, have some play time outside, I just don’t want to stand over a stove.  I’ve been making a lot of simple things, including, but not limited to, sandwiches.

Eating:  A lot of chocolate.  Thanks Valentine’s Day 🙂

Drinking:  More water!!!  And I introduced my friend Ann to the Starbucks Vanilla Latte in a jug, over the weekend.  My apologies to her husband, because she will now be hooked and this stuff will take over his beer fridge {not even sure he has one…but if he does…}dea527efbbe745749e3008d026873b1d

Calling:  The hubs.  He’s in Charleston for a conference.  I wish I could have recorded the conversation R had with him tonight.  It consisted of R telling him he ate all his supper then ate Andrew’s chocolate chip cookie…and where it went from there was hilarious.

Texting:  Hubs, brother and mom and dad.

Tweeting:  The Grammys last night.  John Legend was amazing opening for the Lionel Richie tribute and I let him know. 😉

Pinning:  I haven’t pinned much since the Valentine’s surge last month…

Going:  Past tense would be went…  We just went to Rome, GA for the weekend to see my college roommate and another sweet friend from Berry College.  Reliving a similar photo taken like this from ~17 years ago….042 046

Loving:  Having Gigi here tonight so I’m not alone with these crazy kids!!!!!  So true.  She laughs as I type this! 🙂  We love you, Gigi!  {Gigi is a co-worker that lives in Charlotte and likes to stay with us when she’s in town overnight.  She must be crazy, I know!!!!! ;)}  I’m also loving my hubs and kids.  I had this fun card made for Andrew for Valentine’s Day.073

Hating:  The bickering of this political season.  I  mean, just give it to me straight and stop with the bickering.  Act like adults and be REAL with us, because that’s what WE care about.

Thinking:  So much!!!  Work is a fruit-basket turnover right now.  We are promoting and moving people around and there is a LOT of thinking that goes into that.  I’m also thinking about vacation season…where to go, etc.  {Are you going anywhere fun?  If yes, please share!!}

Feeling: Exhausted!!!!  After a whirlwind trip to Rome over the weekend {5 hrs one way!} and then Charleston on Monday for the day {congrats again to my amazing hubby!!}, I am SO tired!!  But thankful to have seen great friends and to have celebrated Andrew’s accomplishment!

Hoping:  For a good night’s rest. 🙂

Listening:  To Gigi.  🙂  She’s talking about work while I write this post {she’s getting all the behind-the-scenes fun!}.

Smelling:  Chateau Ste. Michelle’s Pinot Gris.  I’m also drinking it in the present.

Celebrating:  MY HUBBY!!!  I know some of y’all are so tired of hearing about this, but I’m so happy for him. 🙂005

Ordering:  OOH!! I ordered this GREAT dress from Ann Taylor today and I’m so excited!!!!!!!  We have a formal-ish affair next Tuesday night so I may have made up the difference in the great price to get it by this Friday {it’s probably going to need some minor alterations!!} → Petite Lace Flare Dress ←

Thanking:  Hannah.  Hannah is our babysitter that went to Charleston with us yesterday.  She rode along with me so that I could enjoy the awards banquet without interruption.  She took our kids to a fun little cookie shop and then had a minor mishap with R and his clothes {he’s potty training} at the park.  Poor kid → her, not him.  Her mom said she was not phased by it, but I would have been distraught as a 16 year old dealing with that mess…

Considering:  Reynolds’ birthday party.  I have some ideas, but I need to consider a few things before booking the location…we’ll see what happens over the next week or so.

Starting:  I have just started writing as a contributor to the Columbia SC Moms Blog {in case you missed that super fun announcement last week!!}.

Finishing:  Laundry!!!  I’m about to finish some laundry so I can climb in my bed and go to sleep.

I think that’s about it, for tonight at least!  I hope you’re all having a great February!

Happy Saturday people!!🙌🥳 Today is day 6 of Happy Saturday people!!🙌🥳
Today is day 6 of the @hopewriters #writingchallenge. I actually skipped yesterday because I felt very uninspired by all the things around me 🥴😩 and the prompt Fresh didnt conjure up anything exciting.
But. Today is a brand new day and we're off to a great start over here.🌞
Today's prompt is Rhythm...and being a lover of words, I looked it up to read all of the meanings. 📚
Rhythm always makes me think of music and dancing, so today's pic is of my feet.🤩 I'm no professional dancer but I LOVE to dance. We almost always have music playing in our house and twirling is a constant. Eliza Jane takes dance lessons and Reynolds is hoping to jump into a hip hop class at the same studio.🕺 Andrew and I took dance lessons for a little over a year, until the world shut down last year. So dancing is in our veins.
Along with dancing are repeated patterns and such is life. Patterns of waking and sleeping and the chores of the day. Patterns of food and seasons. Patterns of work and rest. Patterns of joy and sadness.
There are rhythms all around if we are conscious enough to see them.
What patterns do you see in your own world?
#hopewriterlife
Day 4 of the @hopewriters #writingchallenge and to Day 4 of the @hopewriters #writingchallenge and today's prompt is simply: Twenty One.
21. A simple enough number. I pondered writing to my 21 year-old self and quickly decided that wouldn't be a fun time to reminisce 🤪, so I scratched that idea.

I debated on sharing 21 ideas for supper but who am I to tackle THAT!? 👩‍🍳
Maybe 21 books that I want to read this year? 📚
What about 21 stores and shops where I like to find our home reno supplies? Nah.

I even considered 21 hopes for this brand new year we've just started but wasn't quite feeling it.

I landed on 21 adjectives to describe what I like about myself. Some of you may think, why on earth? Because it was hard 🥴😬. Because it forced me to really compliment myself when I am my own worst critic and often speak negativity over myself. It took me maybe 2 minutes to do this, and for that I am thankful!🙌

If you were to write 21 adjectives of what you like about yourself could you do it? And how long would it take you? What would you write?😉 Debating? Just do it 😘♥️

Shine: to give out a bright light or a quality of Shine: to give out a bright light or a quality of brightness.
Today is day 3 of the @hopewriters #writingchallenge and the topic is the word Shine.
When I think of shining, its in a way that brings happiness, joy, excitement, expectation even. Like the sun rising in the east - hence my photo from Sunday morning when Andrew and I were in Kiawah. The shining I think of doesn't bring dread or gloom. When the sun shines, especially after a rainy day, we are thrilled ♥️ and even relieved at times, that the gloom is over.

This is what I want of my life, my words and actions...I want to shine in a way, that people are excited to see/hear from me, as they are a bright star or the sun. Not dread my appearing 😩 (or God forbid applaud my leaving).

Lord, shine through me so that it's you they see. Not me, Lord. Not me.

Man, I love this kid.

Progress not Perfection. I've heard this over and Progress not Perfection.
I've heard this over and over and I'm finally putting it into practice this year 🙌
Day 2 of the @hopewriters challenge and we're talking about Progress. So of course I've given you a blurry photo of my @cultivatewhatmatters
#powersheetsplanner January tending list.😆 These are all the things I'm working on this month, this week and today...and some of my things are private 😘
I will share I'm making progress in: spending less, eating less sugar, exercising more consistently, spending more time with my family and Jesus.♥️

Progress is good...it's moving forward in (hopefully) the right direction.
How about you...what does progress look like in your life today?
#hopewriterlife
😄 This week I'm participating in the @hopewrite 😄 This week I'm participating in the @hopewriters #writingchallenge.
Today's prompt: New You...hence my "I'm at the hair salon" photo.😄 New You, New do 💇‍♀️
We have a motto in our house right now, and I'm sure you've either heard or said it yourself: New Year, New You.😉
We are saying it in our house for various and interesting reasons...from Emory wiping his own behind (he's 4), to Reynolds tying his shoes (hello, bunny ears) and Eliza Jane brushing her hair and pulling it out of her face (for crying out loud). And @theandrewrlucas wanting to run a ridiculous 650 miles this year...babe, you do you😘😜.
I can't say that I'm wanting a "new" version of myself this year. Or even that I'm wanting to start anything new, but I definitely want a better version of what I see, think, feel and hear. For me, I recognize it all starts with my time in the Word so this year's got a goal of rising early EVERY day to tune my heart and mind more into Him.♥️ Even on the days I want to sleep in, #firstthingsfirst.
How about you? New you or a better version?
#hopewriterlife
Probably one of the best, most fun, enjoyable and Probably one of the best, most fun, enjoyable and productive weekends we've had together in a while.🙌 @theandrewrlucas you're the best of the best ♥️ and most certainly my favorite.
Psalm 16
Headed for a much needed #weekendaway with way too Headed for a much needed #weekendaway with way too much stuff than the two of us need for 3 days but whatever.😅 There will be golf and planning and yummy foods and prayers and walks on the beach and reading and strategizing and dreaming.♥️
Thankful and expectant...life with you @theandrewrlucas is my favorite 😘
