Help Needed: Art Sticky Wicket

July 21, 2015 by Michelle Filed Under: Being a Mom, Decorating/Remodeling 5 Comments

How about this, an art sticky wicket!!  For those who’ve not heard of a sticky wicket before {me, as of 10 minutes ago!}, it is a difficult problem or situation.  And while this may not be THAT difficult for some…it is for me.  Therefore, this qualifies as a sticky wicket!

I’ve made a grand push over the last year or so to bring in some fun artwork/prints/verses to our home so it’s not so blah…and so that the things on the walls actually have meaning to us.

See these various blog posts about all that:

  • Art for Reynolds’ room
  • Update for the gallery wall
  • Eliza Jane’s verse board
  • The Kids’ art gallery

I’ve also confessed to you all that I have zero design ability, although, in my dreams and I am fashionable designer of both apparel and home…

Last week a crazy girl I work with {crazy fun} was playing around on Etsy….and showed me some artwork by Little Things Studio.  I saw one particular print and thought it would be great for the upstairs bathroom…the ones the kids use.

This one:

Oh…this poor, sad bathroom.

What to do with it?!  Pink.  Pink.  Pink.

I mean, other than blow it up and start completely over.  Which isn’t out of the question.

If you can believe it, it’s better than it was…

Told ya.

Anyway.  This post isn’t about a bathroom re-do…although, that would be super fantastic!

This post is really about a piece of art that I got for the kids’ bathroom.

So, my crazy friend found this site on Etsy and this great little fun piece of art that I purchased for their bathroom.  It came the other day.  In a cute, personalized tube.  Now, before I show it to you, my question is…and I need help.  Clearly.  With how to frame it.  How to present it in this sad little bathroom.  What color mat(s)?  Use a black frame to coordinate with the mirrors or…?

As a refresher, here’s what the bathroom currently looks like.

What should I do with this

Is that not the cutest?  And yes, it still has it’s little plastic cover over it because if I take it off, it will get messed up.  It’s actually already rolled back into it’s tube and is sitting on the counter…away from small fingers.

If you have any ideas….ANY ideas, please leave them below – I am excited to see what creative minds you have on a Tuesday night {or Wednesday morning!}!  Thanks in advance…I’m really looking forward to the outcome!

Hey Friend! I'm Michelle and the writer behind this little blog. Thanks for stopping by my little place of happy.
