Reynolds Plants A Tree

March 31, 2015 by Michelle Filed Under: Being a Mom, Outside Leave a Comment

I was REALLY happy to hear in the news yesterday that quality is better than quantity – especially in regards to {working} moms and their kids.  Andrew and I try extremely hard to spend really good, meaningful, quality time with our kids in the evenings and weekends {especially on the weekends!}.

This past weekend, like most, was certainly busy between Dana’s baby shower and other activities we had planned but, again like most weekends, I am extremely happy with what we’re able to do with our kids {as a family!} that makes it so incredibly joyful.

Making sure that we have things to do as a family is important.  Being outside is also important.

The weekend before last we made a trip to our neighborhood Lowe’s and wouldn’t you know it, trees were on sale!  When do trees go on sale?!  I don’t really know, but they were.  And for some time now I have {secretly} wanted a Cherry Tree.

I am from Macon, GA – which is the Cherry Blossom Capital of the World.   I’m not kidding.  It’s a festival that, as a kid made you crazy {what’s the big deal about some trees?!}, but as an adult, makes you appreciative and a little giddy {at least for me….maybe because I don’t live there?!}!! So being in SC now I really wanted in on this little piece of who I am, in my yard.

That day at Lowe’s we found a Weeping Cherry Tree…after we found a pair of Mickey Mouse gloves for R 20150322_145222 20150322_145224 20150322_145239 And then it sat in the yard…for a week.  Partly because when we got home with the new tree, it started raining.  And then it kept raining.  And then, during the week, it can be difficult…like when we get home and go outside to play in the yard…well, it can be a bit dramatic to get one kid {ahem…one guess and it starts with a R!!!} back in the house for bedtime… So, here we were back at the following weekend, which was this past weekend…and Sunday to be exact.   IT.WAS.GORGEOUS in SC.  As a tv weatherman would call it: “Carolina Sunshine” was ABUNDANT.  And we had to be outside. So Reynolds planted his first tree…. 20150329_161541Tree Lily R “Hey!  Hey guys!  Is someone going to come help me, or am I gonna have to do all this work by myself?!” 20150329_161735 20150329_161815 20150329_161817 20150329_162133Tree Lily meTree Lily me reynolds20150329_16320020150329_16320520150329_163209 Don’t you think a rake does a great job planting a tree?!  R thinks so.

And then Daddy took a selfie with Eliza Jane 🙂 20150329_163230 Lily was pretty happy about the cool dirt… Tree Lily Here’s our new Weeping Cherry Tree, that I hope grows to be completely and utterly beautiful…like all of these {←click on the link for lots of  pics!}.
