Impact Uganda : Jewelry For Sale!

June 14, 2016 by Michelle Filed Under: Art, Fashion Leave a Comment

Hi Friends! Today I want to introduce you to Noonday Collection – a socially responsible business that uses fashion to create meaningful opportunities around the world.  My childhood friend, Lindsay, introduced me to Noonday and their jewelry a year or so ago.  Lindsay is one of their Ambassadors, and is an advocate for socially responsible fashion, whether clothing, jewelry, shoes, bags, etc.

I really want you to know about the incredible sale they have going on, called Impact Uganda Sale – it’s a giveback sale going on this month and so far, $100k in Ugandan product has been sold.  What does that mean? $10,000 in additional funding for social programs!!13443986_10157030425080305_925124783_n

Bonus!  Every week of this month there is an Instagram contest with a different theme, and the winner will receive all of the new pieces from Uganda when the new fall line launches!  What a great gift!  To follow Noonday, click here: NoondayCollectionIG

For Lindsay, she set a personal goal to sell 36 items this month – you see, this month she turned 36 so what a great birthday gift for herself and for those for which she is striving to make a difference!  As of today, she’s sold 23 items, so will you be one to help her reach her goal of 36 pieces?

Just so you know, I personally have a couple of their necklaces and they are carefully and beautifully made by the Noonday artisans.  Last year I bought a few of the Dainty Paper Bead Necklaces {the colorful one pictured above ↑} and gave them out as Christmas gifts, and of course kept one for myself 🙂

I hope you’re able to check out the website and find something pretty for you,your mom, a sister, a friend, a neighbor…and know that as you’re picking out these unique pieces of jewelry, you’re making a difference in the lives of many!

Stitch Fix : A Review {April 2016}

April 11, 2016 by Michelle Filed Under: Being a Mom, Fashion 7 Comments

What up, people!  It’s Monday, April 11th and I’ve been missing you!

Last week was a little crazy, with a whirlwind trip to Chicago Wed/Thursday, for work and the daily hullabaloo…I hardly got anything else done besides dressing myself every day!

Speaking of dressing…I got my latest Stitch Fix last week just before I left for Chicago, so over the weekend I tried on all my pieces!

Annette was my stylist this time around and like my stylist from February, she did a fantastic job!

First up is the Astaire Split Back Blouse…in navy polka dot

009 002

I love the mix of dots and the size/fit/length was perfect.

Next up is the turquoise Paddio Lace Inset Blouse that I think is really pretty.

003 004

With a little lace at the shoulders and buttons down the front, it could easily go from work to weekend.

The Carrabin Collarless Tweed Jacket is totally my speed and certainly a keeper.  I’ll have to get the sleeves taken up just a tad, but otherwise it’s quite a lovely fit…and timeless!

006

Rut ro…The Nanci Knit Dress, much like the dress from my February fix, it was completely adorable.

011

Until I tried it on.  Which is why you do not see me all up in my Spanx trying to look like a “hot mom” in this fire-engine red dress.  #Notgonnadoit.  The next size up for this one would have been ideal.

HEY!  Did you know Stitch Fix now does shoes?!  And my first pair, the Brooke Two-Tone Flats are super cute!  They were a perfect fit and given the white/black color combo, I could wear them with a lot of outfits, especially on the weekend!

008

Thoughts on which pieces I should keep or send back!? {you can’t say them all…Andrew would have a fit!}

That’s it for tonight, friends!  I hope you all have an amazing week!

Stitch Fix : A Review {February 2016}

February 9, 2016 by Michelle Filed Under: Fashion 2 Comments

I know a lot of you gals out there have heard of Stitch Fix.  It is the greatest, after all.  I mean, what better service could you get for 20 bucks than to have someone else pick out some great clothes for you?!  Hello.

I was on the S-F wagon for several months after Reynolds was born and I was back to pre-baby weight…but then we found out about Eliza Jane, so I got off the wagon.

Great news is, now girls don’t have to get off that wagon when they have a little bun in the oven because Stitch Fix now has maternity clothes?!  So great.

Anyway, so I’ve not done Stitch Fix for some time now, but decided a week or so ago that I was going to schedule a fix for my birthday.  🙂  Happy birthday, me!!!! YAY!

So it arrived yesterday at my office {it was in a box, not just wrapped in tissue paper!…}Stitch FixAnd tonight I’m going to share with you the stitches in my fix.

I usually ask for a blazer/jacket and a dress in my fix box so first up is the Benson 3/4 Ruched Sleeve Blazer {$78}.  I really like this little blazer – it’s thick enough to add to a spring or fall outfit, but light enough to wear in the summer.

048 049

Next is the Kamile Jersey Ruched Detail Dress {$54}. Reynolds declared, “Mommy!!!! YOU A PRINCESS!!!!  A princess like Sophia!” {Disney channel…}  I’m pretty sure I’m buying this just so every time I put it on he tells me I look like a princess!!!

055 056

The Wiltz Flutter Sleeve Silk Blouse {$78!!!} was also included and while I do love the color, I have a top very similar to this one already….And, Andrew would have my head for spending that much on a top.  Sorry…we’re on a budget.

050

And…the arm holes are a little gapey. 051

One reason to keep?  R said “Mommy, I like your blue shirt.” {big smile}.  I said, “You like blue, don’t you, buddy?”  “Yeah, uh huh….”

Last but not least is this really cute and I feel like, very versatile Kelsey Skirt {$54}.  But honestly, I can’t justify the price when it’s not lined or of a better quality material.  I know that sounds snobbish, and I don’t mean for it to…I just think this one should be more in the ~$30 range.  I do adore the pattern and it has a super-stretchy waist band…
053

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Stitch Fix, this is how it works:  You go online, create an account and fill out a questionnaire of sorts to give the stylists and idea of what you like/don’t like.  You can also link boards from Pinterest {My Style!} so they have some idea of what you really like.  You pay $20 towards a styling fee and that $20 goes towards whatever you end up purchasing.  If you buy all the items in your box, you get 25% the total, but you have to buy all 5 items.

*My 5th item is a cute little necklace for $28.

So, my total for all 5 items received yesterday is $292.  EEEK!  If I purchased all 5 items {I won’t!}, it’s $73 off, and also minus the $20 styling fee I initially paid.  Which brings my total down to $194.   That’s almost $100 less for buying all 5 pieces!  Crazy, right?

If you’re interested, I would love for you to check it out using my link:  Michelle’s Stitch Fix Referral Link

If you sign up and refer friends, when your friends get their first fix, you earn $25 in credit!  So far, I’ve had two friends sign up AND receive a fix {and I heard raves!}.

So…if you’re up to it, sign up, get a fix and then review it!  I’d love to hear what you think!

You can also sign up to get Fixes automatically…but that could be dangerous! 🙂

If you were me, which pieces would you pick out of the ones I got?

Blog-tember Challenge: Day 6

September 6, 2015 by Michelle Filed Under: Fashion, Life 14 Comments

I can’t believe we’re almost a full week into the 2015 Blog-tember Challenge!

Today’s topic: What fashion trends do you love, frequent or avoid?

I actually wrote about this very topic in a post called “What’s Your Style?” last July.

My style is classic, through and through.  The likes of Audrey Hepburn, Katherine Hepburn, Grace Kelly…grace kelly dress

Hopefully you’re getting the picture.  I don’t consider myself to be trendy, nor am I a fan of the grunge look.

I have a board in Pinterest called “My Style” – and it’s me to a T. {And I realized that I’ve neglected pinning to this board for some time!}

First of all, I love dresses.  They are the easiest thing to wear, day in and day out.

Secondly, I am a huge fan of cardigans…Andrew thinks I have a few too many.

Third, coats – I love a good, feminine coat.

Fourth, shoes…shoes and more shoes.  I don’t have nearly enough pairs of shoes!

Fifth, classic jewelry with a few surprises of color every now and then.

Lastly, a really great bag…

In perusing my pinterest board, these were the ones that I thought were my absolute favorites!Blog-tember Day 6

What’s your style?  Is there anyone {an icon maybe?} that you like to imitate with your wardrobe?

Getting Real And Personal

August 7, 2015 by Michelle Filed Under: Being a Mom, Fashion, Life 6 Comments

So I kind of wondered if this would fall under one of those “TMI” posts….

But then I thought, it could possibly be seriously funny.  And no doubt there are other ladies/mommas out there who have had this very same struggle.  {Sorry, men.  But no doubt that some of you husbands will totally understand this too, if you want to keep reading.  But totally up to you.  I understand if you stop right here! :)}

The struggle is real, y’all.  And I’m getting real and pretty personal with you right here. Right now.

The post-baby body.

Either some of you are super ecstatic about it, or some of you totally dread it.

I’m on the fence.

I mean, I lost my weight and a little more.  Positive!!

But then, I’ve experienced this thing where I need all new tops.  And my dresses look um, baggy,…up top.  Errrrr?

You catch what I’m throwing out here?

Sad day in the fitting room…or closet for that matter.

So I took my dresses to a nearby tailor and had him check them, er, me, out.

Here I am with all my pins…Dress

I had 3 dresses that were pinned up like this…

Let me just tell you how my confidence was bursting out of every pore of my being….

Especially when Nick, my tailor man {originally from Portugal} says to me in his sweet accent: “Dis! Dis is VERY baggy up here!!”

HA!

Yes, yes, I know this.  Thank you for stating the very obvious.

One dress, that I didn’t take pictures of, made me feel like Madonna when she wore those outrageous cones…yeah, remember that?  I felt that way in one particular dress and desperately wanted that fixed, like, yesterday.

So then, I’ve waited almost two weeks to get them back.

And today I picked them up and tried on all three and they are gorgeous.   They’re all lovely and fitted.  And I feel like a GIRL again.

dress2

Don’t look at my hair.  I had a friend take this picture….and apparently I was having a VERY bad hair day and didn’t even know it…and I think I seriously need a bump-it!

That’s all.  I hope you thoroughly enjoyed this post and are feeling extremely confident about yourself right now because you’ve seen all of my flaws!!! 🙂
