Grundtal Transformation

August 19, 2014 by Michelle Filed Under: Decorating/Remodeling 1 Comment

I started this little project a few weekends ago..actually, the weekend that Andrew was in Vegas.  That just tells you how long it’s taking for me to get things done around here…sigh.  But this is one more thing we can check off our list! Whooohooo!  Although, it has absolutely nothing to do with Eliza Jane! ha!

Back when we went to IKEA…we purchased this fun little wine glass holderWhen I was looking at it that weekend when Andrew was in Vegas, I thought…I don’t like the stainless steel look.  It was going to go in the bar area that was recently installed and everything over there is oil-rubbed bronze.  I remembered back to when I was recently at Hobby Lobby, in the spray paint section.  I had seen oil-rubbed bronze as a color option.  I was a little skeptical but took the trip to purchase a can.

That Saturday afternoon, while R was sleeping {I get SO much done when the kid sleeps!}, I got myself set up in the garage (it was pouring rain).  With all my Grundtal parts (who comes up with these names?!)…

And my Trader Joe’s paper bags (woot!), I started painting

I must say, I was really impressed with this spray paint…I couldn’t believe the transformation…and how good it actually looked.  I shot a pic to the hubs (while he was pool-side) and he was as excited as me!

Tonight, we got the thing hung.

This is the bar…missing its counter top (eventually we’ll get that) and a switch plate (um….?)

And this is my husband trying to figure out the mathematics of hanging the wine glass holder in the center.  “Math really was my best subject” he laughingly said as he tried to figure out the center of 12 5/8 and 7 3/4.

I love it when he uses power tools

The install is complete!

A little staging {man, that face plate would make a big difference…}

The wine glasses are some of my favorite.  We received them as a wedding gift from a sweet friend (Joanna) and I’ve always wanted to have them out.   The wood tray is Pottery Barn (we loved the rustic look of this one when we saw it a couple of years ago), the little flower dish belonged to my NaMa.  I have no idea of where the red wine came from, but I’m assuming it was a gift!  As you know, with red wine, you run the risk of purple teeth so for you all out there who haven’t seen these cuties…

Andrew is a red wine drinker (steak, please!) so he tried them out to see if they actually worked and they do!  I recommend having them in case you have company and someone develops the purple teeth…

Hey Friend! I'm Michelle and the writer behind this little blog. Thanks for stopping by my little place of happy.
