Confessions…

March 1, 2016 by Michelle Filed Under: Being a Mom, Cooking, Life Leave a Comment

Happy Super Tuesday, people!  I hope for those of you that had the opportunity to vote today, that you did!!

Tonight I have a few confessions.  And these are in no particular order of anything.

Confession #1: I love garlic.  I love the smell.  I love the taste.  I love what it brings to a dish.

Last night, as I was feeling rather proud of myself for Andrew’s “Best Hotel Man Gift”, I was perusing the new cookbook I’d purchased for him from Williams-Sonoma….dreaming of delectable dishes with fine wines.

Then I pulled out one of my tried and true cookbooks from Southern Living and chose a shrimp recipe for tonight’s dinner.  Today I planned my lunch hour strategically, taking part of it to go for a 30 minute walk, and the other part to leave early to go to Publix {because I love Publix…especially when it’s just me.}.  Andrew volunteered to pick up the kids from daycare {yippeee!} so I got to go by myself and for my other mom-friends out there, y’all know how much fun that can be {for reals!}!!

Tonight I chopped and minced my way thru onion, garlic, tomatoes and parsley in order to come up with this mouthwatering dish.  And while I minced the garlic I was thinking about how much I love garlic, how fascinating it is to me {small but with a lot of punch} and how I’ve only really been eating it for the last 10 or so years.  Another one of those things that I’d missed out on for half my life by the time I discovered it…

Our supper was amazing…even if the kids didn’t eat it…Sauteed Shrimp and Pasta

Confession #2:  I’m not a fan of participating in R’s potty training.  He’s a big boy now, can’t he do this on his own yet?

And he’s a boy…and boys are weird from the get-go with their parts and I just can’t handle it, yo.  #alldone

Any other boy-moms out there feel me on this?  I asked Andrew about this, as in, why does this start so early?  He laughed and shook his head.  And then had a conversation with R.  I left the room.  I said it: hashtag, all done.

Confession #3:  I blew the February budget.  BLEW.IT.  Like, to smithereens.  Like, it never existed.  Holey Moley.  Andrew and I have not had our monthly round-up yet – but I’m sure after he reads this confession that we will.  bahaha.  I gotta hurry up and go to bed!!

I will remind him that today is MARCH 1st, 2016 and it’s a new month.  {Forget about the fact that dresses were BOGO at The Limited today…and I got a giftcard for my birthday…}  I will do better this month, I promise.

Confession #4:  This isn’t really a confession…it’s more of just a statement.  I read this verse this morning and felt/feel compelled to share: “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” Psalm 150:6.

That’s it.  Everything that has breath.  Do you have breath?  Praise the Lord.

That’s all.

Have a lovely night {or morning}….tomorrow is Wellness Wednesday and I have a few things lined up for you {no videos!!}. 🙂

Just A Little Update On A Little Potty Training…

December 1, 2015 by Michelle Filed Under: Being a Mom, Life 1 Comment

I am so tired today, I could barely hold my eyes open just now while sitting on the side of the tub while Reynolds tried to use the big boy potty.  And by tried, I mean he DID.  WOOT!

My mom friends out there who have or currently are potty training can relate to this.

And mind you, I’ve never done this before.

AND mind you, my first go-round with this potty training thing is with a BOY.

🙂

I feel like potty training boys is different than girls.

In my mind girls are less….um, graphic?  Less excited about the experience?  A little more dainty about the whole thing?  Maybe not.  Am I wishful thinking here? Clearly I have no idea.

Again, first timer over here.

But in the oh, two months that we’ve really been trying at this thing, it’s been quite hilarious.  I’m not going to share with y’all the stories that I really wish I could…  I would like to maintain a little modesty and decency to what goes on here at Camellias and Copper.  But oh, the stories I could tell!!

I will tell y’all that today was the second day of R wearing “big boys underwear” {what we call them} at school and he had NO accidents.  Well, until the ride home, but that doesn’t count!!  Cheerleader moment!!! YAY!!!! Whoo hooo!!!  Way to go, REYNOLDS!!!

HOORAY!  I know that this is just the beginning and that there WILL be accidents, but this is so great for him, for us…for my parents who will be keeping the kids next week {YAY, Grammy & PopPop!}.  We are so very proud of and excited for him.

A little shout out to my fellow daycare moms whose kids are a little ahead of R, thank you for all that you do to encourage your kids.  Because you encouraging your kids and your kids encouraging each other at school has been HUGE.  AND to the teachers in R’s class:  We couldn’t do any of this without y’all!!  You keep them focused on the task and push them to go even when they don’t want to.  And yes, we know y’all have an ulterior motive too!! But keep doing it!

Ok, so now I’m off to make about 6 lists of things that have to be done in the next 6 days…because adventure awaits….

Hey Friend! I'm Michelle and the writer behind this little blog. Thanks for stopping by my little place of happy.
