Treadmill + Art Project

March 11, 2015 by Michelle Filed Under: Decorating/Remodeling, Life Leave a Comment

Who out there has thought to themselves:  I really need to exercise tonight but I REALLY need to do {fill in the blank}.  Well, for me, that came the other night.  I felt kind of like a blob since I hadn’t exercised in a long time {seems like WEEKS}.  But then I really needed to work on a little art project.

Light bulb moment!  I’ll do my art project WHILE I walk on the treadmill!  A-HA!  Tadaaaaa!  Genius!

So I gathered my few suppliestreadmill wreath 1a and set myself up on the treadmill.

My husband even snapped a few pics:treadmill wreath 2treadmill wreath 1

What was probably my most productive hour ever on the treadmill {though, I only walked 1.7 miles….I mean, scissors at 4.2mph isn’t a good idea…}, created thistreadmill wreath 3

So the next night, I finished my “masterpiece” – on the treadmill!

A pink tulle wreath!  Straight from the pages of Pinterest!

But my story doesn’t stop there.  Why couldn’t it just stop there?  WHHHHYYYY

Well, if you know anything about my life, you know that we often encounter “oops”.

So.

I put my beautiful wreath on the door this morning.

Came home this afternoon and opened the front door.

What happened next almost caused me to cry.  One hour and 18 minutes.  One hour and 18 minutes walking at a snails pace, cutting and tying.  Cutting and tying tiny strips of tulle into tiny knots.  Around a circle of styrofoam!!!

Reynolds said “oh, no!”   He is my echo.

“OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!” was more like it.  Andrew laughed.  Then took a picture.

BLEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ll be darned if I throw this mess into the trashcan after I’d spent an hour and 18 minutes walking on a treadmill to make this stupid thing.  {How did my perception about my wreath turn so quickly from “my beautiful masterpiece” to “this stupid thing”?!}

Andrew said, “you need sticks”.  Not from the yard sticks, I quickly realized.

But like, toothpicks.  Toothpicks are sticks.

So with the precision of a surgeon putting a leg or arm back together {I’m using my imagination, ok?}, I have my masterpiece once again!
