Push Present

I got my push present today!!  Well, I got my first push present right after Eliza Jane was born.  Today, the second present came.  You see, several weeks ago, I told Andrew not to get me a push present (knowing that he would…).  I told him I didn’t need/want anything, other than the counter top for our bar.  That’s what I wanted as a push present.  Glamorous and super personal, I know.  But I wanted this thing to be done.  Too long have we lived with a beautiful plywood counter top that I was constantly hiding with a plastic tablecloth in varying colors (dependent on the event being had).

So, Andrew said, “ok” to my request.  He went back to the shop that we first looked at, and had considered a marble counter, but upon research, discovered that marble is the worst kind of surface for a bar or even a kitchen.  Plus, the cost (for even this small of a space) was insane.   We ended up with a beautiful granite with blacks, whites, greys and sort of a plumb purple.  It had the most grey and white that I wanted, without any gold or cream colors.

Last week we placed our order, since I’m on this extended “vacation”, and were told that they were 1.5-2 weeks out but then on Friday Andrew said, “they’ll be here Monday to install the counter.”   Talk about fast service!

Around lunch time today the guys showed up, and though it took a while for them to get everything in, it looks completely amazing.

Hey, and I also got that outlet/switch cover plate installed 🙂
