A Month Of Thanks(giving)
The month of November is more than just a month where people start planning their turkey and dressing feasts. More than pumpkin and pecan pies and trying to figure out how to get 15 people around a table that only seats six… It’s a month where many people reflect upon the people and things for which they are thankful.
In years past I’ve seen many friends and acquaintances post on Facebook a daily, “Today I am thankful for…..”. Thirty days of thanks. Have you ever done the thirty days of thanks?
I’ve never done it myself, and I’m not going to do it publicly this year. I want my thanks to be more personal. Not saying that you who have done the thirty days of thanks on Facebook haven’t put a personal touch to your statements. I have read many posts in years past that were heart-warming and touching. I’ve just decided to use this month to sit down and write thank you notes to friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc.
There’s so much that we have to be thankful for, and I personally don’t tell the people around me often enough how much they mean to me and how much I appreciate them.
If you’re looking for a challenge, something to help you have a more grateful heart, or just the desire to express to others how much you appreciate them, sit down and write a thank you note. For the next 27 days I’m writing thank you notes. How will you show those around you how much you are thankful for them?
And now, a reflection on my little turkey from last year…and to one little boy that I am so completely thankful for…
