For those of you who have been following the blog since Friday evening, you kinda know what this weekend’s projects have been (even tho there’s one left to show -> tomorrow).
First, the metal patio set got a beautiful (colorful!) transformation. See it here: Colored Metal!!!
Second, the tree stump that sat next to the love-seat became a table.
Here’s the how-we-did-it on the tree stump table:
On our adventure to Lowe’s Saturday morning I told Andrew to have an open mind and to look for anything that could potentially be the top of our table. Bird baths (great idea, but heavy and well, they held water), pieces of cement pavers, eh, kinda on the heavy and bulky side. Old Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Barrel. Say it again, Old Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Barrel. Hmmm. I kinda like it.
So the barrels were posted for 50 bucks. Out of price range, move along. Andrew says, “hey, wait honey. This one is all busted up, why don’t I see if we can just get the bottom for $20”. Ok, that works; sure!
$20 later….the entire barrel (along with a few other outdoorsy things) sat in the back of our car:
While I painted the furniture, Andrew went to work on taking apart the barrel. Once the bottom was removed, he questioned the integrity of it. So with some of the loose slats, he secured the bottom of what would be the table top. Sorry if that’s confusing.
Leaving the middle for where it would be secured into the tree stump.
I didn’t show my Paul Bunyan cutting off the tree stump but you can imagine: safety glasses, chain saw, crazed-looking red headed man overly excited about what he was about to do. 🙂
Your beverage, nor anything else will fall off, so bravo to my man!
Here’s a shot from the top. Andrew said about the donuts, “You could cut up some fruit and put it out there. But every body knows that the fruit is for show. Nobody ever eats the fruit. So let’s just be realistic about this and put the donuts out.”
🙂
I think it’s completely and utterly perfect, and quite lovely!
This weekend project is a wrap and I’m so thankful for how wonderful it all turned out!
Tune in (or click) tomorrow to see the last of the 3 projects!
