Appliqués, Monogramming And MORE!
Since I got Eliza Jane and Reynolds’ outfits for Eliza Jane’s first birthday party the other day, I thought it only fitting to share with you all my sweet friend Jenn at InStitches Designs. Some of you know her but for others of you that don’t, here’s a little Q&A to help you get acquainted!
CC: How did you get started in your business?
ISD: I started 6 years ago. It began just for personal use and I would do things for friends as well. At the time, I worked full time in the medical field. We moved from GA to AL in January 2013, at which point I became a stay-at-home mom and that allowed me to turn my hobby into a business.
CC: Your business is called InStitches Designs. What can people expect to be able to purchase from you?
ISD: I do custom monogramming and appliqué. I have ideas and samples of my work on my Facebook and Instagram page and also my etsy shop. I love to work with my customers to create a unique look based on their ideas and wishes. Basically, any look you have created in your mind, I will bring to life!
CC: How do you come up with your designs?
ISD: I purchase my designs from appliqué digitizers such as The Itch 2 Stitch. Appliqué Market, Appliqué Corner, and more.
CC: Can shoppers choose different fonts or colors?
ISD: All designs are customizable. We can change colors, fonts, fabrics used; it’s all up to the customer’s wishes.
CC: Will you copy someone else’s designs?
ISD: Yes and no. If a customer sends me a picture and says, “I love this, can you do this?”, more than likely I can. But I will not copy another designer’s work exactly. I will put my own spin on it by using different fabrics, colors, fonts, etc. There is a mutual respect in this business between all designers that we try not to copy each other’s work exactly.
CC: How long does it take to get the product once an order has been placed?
ISD: My turn around time is generally 1-2 weeks. I can do rush orders for additional cost. I lean more towards 1 week from the time an order is paid for until it’s in the mail.
CC: I have readers all over the country, and world for that matter. Will you ship anywhere?
ISD: YES!
CC: How can people contact you?
ISD: I can be contacted through my FaceBook page, Instagram – “InStitches Designs“, or email at institchesmonogramming@hotmail.com. I also have an Etsy shop. {Click the links for sites}
CC: What else do you want people to know about your business/you?
ISD: When I began this business full time 2.5 years ago, it was a way to help my family raise funds for our adoption. We are less than 1 week away {!!!} from completing our adoption journey and becoming a family of 4. I have enjoyed doing this so much that I will continue with my business and hope to one day have a store front!
Many of you saw these…but here are the ones she did for Reynolds and Eliza Jane for R’s 2nd birthday this year {we had a nautical theme!}!!
And here are the ones we’ll have for Eliza Jane’s 1st Birthday in just a few weeks:
Please check out Jenn and her designs! She’s really fantastic about helping you come up with exactly what you want – for those of us that just know which colors we want {like me!!}…and brings it to life!
So cute! Thanks for sharing – I will have to check out her shop!
Hey Morgan! Please do! They met their sweet son, Brantley this week!!! Jenn’s funds from the monogramming and appliqué have supported their adoption fund.
She does fantastic work and is very quick!
I really like the design work! I’m a Southern girl and love monograms. I think personalized gifts are the best!
Hi Marla! Thanks for stopping by! Jenn does such a great job! I love the hats that she adds fabric to, with the monogrammed disc – I hope you were able to see some of those – they are great gifts!
These are great questions! I love the response about copying someone else’s design…I feel like in many ways whenever you make something “creative” it always stems from someone else’s concept, but you put your own spin on it…so it’s nice to hear she does the same!
Hi Sam! Thanks for stopping by and for your comments! My friend Jenn does a fantastic job. I really appreciate her creative spin on her projects – I hope you were able to check them out!
