C&C at Home :: Talking Granite
Today let’s talk granite, shall we?
Did you know there are many types of granite, and I’m not just speaking about colors.
Most suppliers use a 3 grade/level system, but there can be many more… The grade of the granite slab can be determined by colors, veins, pitting, marking, thickness, the amount of soft materials it has, and the country where it was quarried. {You learn something new every day!}
Think of level one being builder’s grade granite. Nothing bad about it, but also, nothing special… It does the job and that’s pretty much it.
Next up, level 2 granite offers more color and variation in the veining and movement in the slab, allowing it to be a bit more unique…but then,…
There’s level 3 – this is when you hear the choir of angels sing 🙂 Considered to be high-grade granite, it is one of the finest quality stones you can find. It has an incredibly unique appearance and is typically imported from India or Brazil.
This slab we used in #1050IndianMound as well as #37KingCharles is called Alaska White and it👏is👏gorgeous👏
I love all the speckles of color and movement it offers without being so overwhelming.
Price-wise the difference between levels can range anywhere from $40-80/sf, depending on your slab.
Let me know if you have any questions! 🙌
