December Is Half Over?!
I can’t even. How is today the 15th? How are we already half way through this month and how in the heck is Christmas just 10 very short days away?!
Did I totally just stress you out?! 🙂 I didn’t mean to, promise! So while you have a mini-breakdown thinking of all the things that need to get done in the next 9 days, enjoy a little muse this lovely Tuesday evening.
I’m revisiting one of my favorite types of blog posts – the What’s Currently Happening – to sort of gain a little perspective on life. I invite you to think through your own answers:
Playing: Tonight was a major splash night in the tub for R. I’m talking water, water everywhere!!! He was discovering that he could slide down the back of the tub and water would splash up all over the place. I think Andrew and I didn’t really discourage the major splashing, even though we were short of soaked, was because for so long he’s had this terrifying fear of water in his face/eyes and with his swim lessons almost over, he’s getting so much more comfortable with it. Splash your little heart out, dude.
Watching: Gosh y’all. I feel like I live on a different planet sometimes. We just don’t watch tv. I mean, aside from college football. The occasional HGTV show or some history show that Andrew wants to get in to on a random night. I just don’t understand how everyone else has all this time to watch tv. There is so much to be done in our house…or sleep…sleep to be gotten.
Trying: I am TRYING to get my kids to eat food. What is this?! Bless their sweet hearts. They are so picky!!!
Cooking: Tonight I threw some chicken in a pan {slathered in Italian seasoning} with zucchini and squash and added a side of rissoto {both kids WILL eat rissoto} and called it a meal. It was actually pretty good.
Baking: I found a couple of really great recipes today that I want to try out: 1. Peanut Butter Fudge {yum…} 2. Red Velvet Sugar Cookies {what the what…}
Reading: I finally finished my books for work! {hooray!} and am currently reading some things for pleasure. 1. For the Love {it’s fantastic!} and 2. Advent: Born is the King series from She Reads Truth {such a blessing and encouragement! See photo below-below of the book a sweet friend gave me for Christmas!}
Eating: poorly? Here’s the run down of food that was provided to our office today: Dunkin Donuts, Panera bagels and raisin bread, Marco’s pizza, Insomnia cookies. No to mention all the other junk that has come in like massive barrels of flavored popcorn, cookies and other treats.
And I’m about to eat one of these amazing cheese biscuits ↓ that Mrs. Black made for us today!
Smelling: This ↑ Bath & Body Works Cinnamon Caramel Swirl candle↑…it’s ridiculously delicious.
Drinking: a Mimosa. It’s what I do.
Exercising: Just like my November post, the fabulous people that I work with have taken the planktacular challenge to a new level. We are now switching between planking AND this 30 day ab challenge. One gal is getting married in February and said she wanted to have great abs so we’re doing it all for her!!
Calling: So I tried to call three people during a quick errand this morning. NO ONE ANSWERED. This is why I text.
Texting: A girlfriend that announced on FB tonight that she and her hubby are expecting their first child. WOOT!!! My mother-in-law about the Christmas program at daycare this Friday. And two other friends to get updated addresses because yes, I am just now sending out our Christmas cards. {hey, we’ve been busy!}
Pinning: Not much recently… Sometimes Pinterest can be like the tv for me, there’s just not enough time!
Tweeting: I tweeted tonight about Eliza Jane being addicted to her pacifier and how she crawled under her crib to get the extra one that was there…#addict {it can also be found via my Instagram!}
Going: Well, there’s been a lot of this, so I’m trying to not go so much right now!
Loving: the wild banshees that are in their rooms screaming right now. Bless their sweet hearts.
I am also loving Christmas and everything about it this year!!
Hating: the haters. I mean, why do people leave mean comments on social media. There’s that saying that our mothers taught us: If you don’t have anything nice to say….shut your mouth. Well, my momma didn’t quite say it like that but for reals, I want to tell people to put a sock in it sometimes. And in the words of my two-and-a-half-year-old: Be nice!
Discovering: that my husband loves Christmas lights! He’s really gotten into it this year and last night there was a show on ABC about neighborhoods that go all out. I mean…ALL OUT with their lights and I swear he was taking notes!
Thinking: About all that needs to be done both at home and at work this week. This is yet another very busy week personally and professionally. I have a lot of personnel thinking to do because of year-end reviews!
Feeling: Thankful that it’s Christmas. Excited that my bathroom wallpaper is getting installed tomorrow {FINALLY!!}. Sneak-peek of what it might look like!
Hoping for: Peace. People who have hate in their hearts to somehow find Jesus. And that our neighbor, Ms. Mary will get to come home from the hospital soon. She’s been very ill.
Listening to: Reynolds cry…
Celebrating: Having been able to go to NYC last week with Andrew {did you see that post?→ Christmas in NYC ←if not!}. I can’t tell y’all how much fun we had in just three short days. It was so much fun and so great for us to be able to get away.
Ordering: I still have a few things I need to order off of Amazon…Christmas gifts you know…
Planning: Gosh, I want to have a party or gathering of some sort soon…but not sure what or when. This dang bathroom needs to be put back together like, ASAP.
Thanking: My parents for their willingness to keep our kids last week. For the people in our lives that are so wonderful to us. And the Lord for His provisions with all the mess we’ve had to deal with regarding the flood, etc.
That’s it for me so far this December! Did anything pop out at you that you’d like to share?
