Fall Has Arrived!
All the hoopla this week has been over the start of Fall. Everywhere you go there are pumpkins, Japanese lanterns, hay bales, mums and scarecrows. The covers of magazines show us all how to decorate our homes for Fall, give us the latest and greatest recipes for pumpkin pies, pumpkin scones and anything else pumpkin you might want.
Well, as they say, “when in Rome…”
I took my decorating inspiration from Better Homes and Garden and GrandinRoad this year. Then, yesterday morning, my friend Dana and I went shopping at Hobby Lobby and Trader Joe’s.
My look is simple, and classic on both the mantle and at our front door.
I pulled Reynolds’ pumpkin picture from last year off the wall and stuck it behind my Lindsay Letters print – what better picture than this to show Fall! Then I added some mini-pumpkins from Trader Joe’s as well as some Japanese lanterns and an owl, both from Hobby Lobby. The best part was, when Reynolds got home yesterday, upon turning the corner, said “Oooh, Oooh” because he saw Mr. Owl 😀 You could say that he was purchased just for my little man – R loves an owl.
The front porch is easy, just a bale of hay, some cream pumpkins and floral – all from Hobby Lobby. Added along with my lanterns (previously purchased and a main-stay to the porch).
It’s almost a little too plain (?) so I’ve thought about painting the pumpkins…something like this:
That may be a project for this weekend…May.be.
What are you doing to get ready for Fall? Because as we all know, it’s HERE!!
Happy Fall, y’all!
