Life Verse
When I was pregnant with Reynolds I found a sweet book at a boutique shop in Camden that I purchased for the two of us. The book was called “100 Favorite Bible Verses for Mommy & Me“
The reason I liked it so much was that on one page there was a child’s verse and on the facing page there was one for Mommy.
One day while I was putting together R’s bookcase I sat down and started flipping through the book and had an epiphany. We should pick a verse and have a scripture board made for Reynolds!
I initially picked three verses and gave the book to Andrew to make the final decision. We choose Psalm 84:11 for Reynolds, which reads: For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Whether this will be his own personal life verse when he is older, will be his decision. We wanted him to have a verse that he knew we chose for him, both as encouragement and as a challenge.
For Eliza Jane, I guess you could say it was slightly easier. I went straight to Proverbs 31. Since most of the passage regarding the woman who fears the Lord is truly about a woman (an adult), I chose the 30th verse. It simply states: Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
We all know it’s not just about what you look like on the outside, but what’s inside that truly matters. I desire for EJ to know and understand this early on in her life, which is why this verse was so important to me that she have as her own.
