My Tongue Went Numb
Oh. My. Goodness. Last night Reynolds picked out the book he wanted to read before he went upstairs to bed…. Have you ever read Dr. Seuss’ book, “Fox In Socks”?
Befittingly, there is a “warning” on the cover of the book: The first time you read it, don’t go fast!…He’ll try to get your tongue in trouble.
If you have read this book, you know exactly what I’m talking about and why the warning is there…
This snippet was my favorite:
“When a fox is in the bottle where the tweetle beetles battle with their paddles in a puddle on a noodle-eating poodle, THIS is what they call…a tweetle beetle noodle poodle bottled paddled muddled duddled fuddled wuddled fox in socks, sir!”
If you were able to get thru that entire statement without messing up once, I commend you, sir!! Now read it three more times and that’s the equivalent of how a toddler wants it read 😉
It is quite fitting and most appropriate that the last page of the book cleverly asks, “NOW, is your tongue numb?” As if Dr. Seuss knew quite well that it certainly would be.
THIS is a fun book to read…and one that makes absolutely zero sense…but definitely makes you smile. Happy reading friends.
