Sausage Balls For Breakfast!
Y’all, I am no Ree Drummond…though at times I may wish that I were…
So here I am in all my non-Ree-Drummond-self telling y’all how to make my breakfast sausage balls. 🙂
Well, I call them mine, but they’re probably the same ones you or your mom, or aunt, or sister or best friend have made for years!
Thing is, I always get compliments on these little balls of deliciousness. And the other night when I posted what we were going to be having for breakfast tomorrow morning {Christmas!!!}, my friend at work, David, asked me for the recipe.
Well of course I had to make it into a post!
So today, while thinking through the day, the night {Christmas Eve Service}, making dressing, sugar cookies for Santa {omg, can’t wait to post about that!}, and everything else, there was no time to think about sausage balls other than this morning. After all, breakfast is for morning!
This morning after Reynolds and I got back from our errands, and Daddy and Eliza Jane were back from theirs, and the Ginger Bread House was made {holey moley we’ve done a lot today!} I threw these babies together!
I had to use this photo because sweet Eliza Jane was cheesing it up so good for me!
My recipe is as easy as Busqick mix, sharp cheddar cheese, {ONLY} Jimmy Dean Regular AND Hot sausage.
I usually let everything sit out until the sausage has gotten some of its chill off – because my hands just can’t deal with that much cold, and you have to Get.In.There to make these things!
So I blend one pound each of regular and hot Jimmy Dean sausage, about a cup or cup and a half of sharp cheddar cheese {I usually get the finely shredded}, and about a cup or so of Bisquick. Keep in mind, the more flour/cheese you use, the farther the mix will stretch {you can make more}, but some of the flavor of the sausage will get lost the more you use.
Like my shirt?! You can find it here →180living.com←I saw it last year or the year before on Candace Cameron Bure and had to have it myself!
So then after you’ve made your mixture, and be sure to really get in there and work your hands into all this stuff… roll out some small balls. The bigger they are the longer they’ll have to cook! And I try to keep mine bite-sized.
A broiler pan is by far the best pan to use…the grease drips into the secondary pan, away from the sausage balls {and you have less smoke from the hot grease!}.
I bake mine at 350 degrees for about 40-45 minutes, pending how big/small they are.
Ready and waiting for tomorrow morning!
I usually keep them in a ziplock bag, in the fridge…and they only last about 3-4 days, because they are so good!
Merry Christmas Friends! I pray you have a wonderful time with your friends and family! Thanks for being such a big part of mine!

Thanks for posting! I hope y’all are having a wonderful Christmas!!
