The Petri Dish
I’m going to start this post by setting the scene for you…as I write.
I’m in the bed propped up by 5 pillows, watching “The Devil Wears Prada”. You’ll find out at the end, why… but please. keep reading.
Today was a beast. Not because we barely slept or because it was ~94 degrees outside…or because when I took R to the dentist today he kicked and screamed {and made me sweat!}…but he got a monkey, so I guess it was all worth it?!
Today was a beast because Andrew gave me his germs.
I am convinced that my husband’s hands are a petri dish and that HE is the one bringing home all the germs…not our precious, day-care attending children. ha!
You all know who the REAL petri dishes are…bless their sweet hearts.
Andrew was sick all last night. {He’s always the first one to get sick – see petri dish comment above} And when he gets sick…I know I’m not too far behind. My text to him today actually said: “I think I’m the next victim”.
I was on a conference call, using stationary bike pedals. I posted this pic on Instagram…workout when and where you can, people!!
Then I got hot. Not like, hey, I’m sitting here {sort of} riding a bike in work clothes, but um…this isn’t good, hot.
I left before I was in big trouble.
Eliza Jane had come home just an hour earlier because she wasn’t feeling well. I left her and Andrew’s sister {once again, PRAISE for her} downstairs and I got in the bed.
Reynolds came home not long after and climbed into our bed with me. “Stone. Momma, watch Stone.” His new favorite movie is “The Sword in the Stone”. I asked Andrew to bring it upstairs so Reynolds and I could watch it together.
As I waited for the inevitable, I remembered what Andrew said this morning.
After he’d recovered from this mess.
He got on the scale.
My comment to him was: “Are you trying to figure out how much you need to eat today to gain back what you lost?”
His response reminded me of a quote from “The Devil Wears Prada”, and with this I leave you so I can roll over and go to sleep, praying that tomorrow I feel immensely better…
“I’m on this new diet….I’m just one stomach flu away from my goal weight.”-Emily
So glad you’re feeling better! I must know where you found those stationary bike pedals, too. Genius!!
ha! Thanks friend! We are all feeling better, PTL!
The stationary bike is borrowed from another co-worker BUT I’ve found them at Target & Kohl’s. for $40-$50 🙂
Oh my, praying you feel better asap. That quite is too funny!
