Throwback Thursday: Graduation
I decided today’s post would be in honor of the graduates of 2014. I honestly can only think of a few people I personally know that are part of this grand crowd this year. One being my cousin’s daughter. I babysat her and her little brother when they were well, little. Barely out of diapers. In fact, I think she was potty training when I was babysitting her. I’m sure she’ll love reading this 🙂 I’m now that person saying, “I remember when you were just a little thing”. And I do.
I also remember when I was pretty little (not just saying that because I’m 6mos preggers); I also remember my own high school graduation (here’s the throwback part). Excited about what the future held but also terrified because everything I’d known for 18 years was about to change.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 16 years since I graduated high school. I have great memories: like typing class (on a typewriter no less and it was actually a really fun class!), a guy that couldn’t stop yawning in Algebra so Mrs. Smothers (greatest teacher ever) made him run laps in the parking lot. Which is probably what he wanted to do any way…. Senior lunches, football practices (my two friends pictured here, and I, were football managers) and many other memories floating in my head. Basically we didn’t really have a care in the world.
Seriously. It was so much easier then. No bills, no one else that you were responsible for, you just got to be you. And it was fun. Riding in a convertible with the top down, music blaring (wink, wink) kind of fun.
Life was easier then. And some days I like to think it would be fun to go back. (I know you can’t really go back, but let’s pretend you could.) If I went back, I would miss out on all the great friendships I have now. The amazing husband who makes me laugh all.the.time. and the rock star of a kid that sang to me last night while I was trying to rock him to sleep.
It was easier then. But its so much better now.
So to the grads, congrats on your accomplishments – they are great. But this is only the beginning. Your life will be greater and more full 16 years from now. Get excited!
