Walking With Kids…
Well folks, today is Wellness Wednesday and while I’ve not posted consistently about that, I have been keeping up with my fitness! First of all y’all know that life with kids is crazy. I don’t even know how people do it when their kids have things like soccer, baseball, ballet, etc. I can’t even let my mind go there because I break out into a major sweat.
Here’s how I’m working in my fitness. If I have time to walk at lunch, I’ve recently discovered that First Baptist has an indoor track that you can walk FOR FREE. 18 laps is a mile….and I try to do about 27 {which for you non-math people, that is 1.5 miles}, which I can do in my allotted lunch hour {and change my clothes/get cooled down}. Honestly, I can only do this about once or twice a week due to my calendar/work stuff.
When I walk in the morning {I try to do 4 mornings/week} I can really only get a solid 15-20 minutes in on the treadmill {while reading my SRT – Proverbs! study} before I have to start getting ready for my day. So at night I’m doing at least a 15 minute walk to get in my full 30 minutes. Last week I took Reynolds with me a couple of nights, when the weather was really great.
Tonight, the whole family went out for the walk. We did leftovers for dinner, which meant that we were done by 6:45 so there was a window of time before Eliza Jane would go to bed. We loaded the kids in the stroller and started out around our neighborhood.
I love our neighborhood. It’s so pretty and things are in bloom. I pointed out a massive bunch of jasmine growing around a pine tree and asked R if he knew what it was. “Um, Jasmine!” he said.
I told him once about it. Last week we turned this particular corner, I got him out of the stroller, and held him up to smell it, telling him what it was. He remembered. My heart was bursting with pride and joy.
So then he wanted to get out to walk. We told him no…and then we saw our neighbors out with their dog, Abbey. Eliza Jane about jumped out of the stroller to get to Abbey! so of course Reynolds had to get out as well. We chatted with them for a bit and as we were saying good-bye to them, neither of our kids was having any part of getting back into the stroller.
So they walked.
The rule was that Eliza Jane had to hold someone’s hand.
I nearly melted and said to Andrew, “oh! I wish I had my phone!” Of course he did…so he captured these priceless pictures.
I hope you’re having a great week so far…and finding time to get in your fitness!
It’s so important to teach kids by example how to live fit and healthy lives. You’re doing a great job. And these pictures? Amazing.
Christine, thank you! I am so thankful that these two love and adore each other like they do!
So sweet!!! That dress though EJL is FAB!!!!
She legitimately dresses so much better than I do!
