Why Not Me?
I’ve wanted to blog for a while now. The other day I was looking at a new blog I’d found and once again I had that Julie from “Julie and Julia” moment, “I have thoughts!”. But what would I, a full-time working wife and mom (am I not already overwhelmed?!) blog about? Who am I kidding? There are so many options! Here are some I considered (but maybe not rationally…):
I could blog about the nuts I work with on a daily basis…this was the first consideration, but I’d have to be anonymous in my writing and change names to protect the um, innocent. And then I pondered, is that what people want to read about? Possibly. It could easily provide someone a great, from the gut, belly laugh and some much needed comic relief during their day.
Or, I could write about the conversations I have with my husband and 12+ mo. old son, and the chaos the ensues around 6:45am every day. But then, that’s not entirely entertaining either. There would certainly be several posts about why is it a surprise that every morning when we get him out of his crib it’s a complete surprise (and not a good one) that he has to get a new diaper? And why are you still sitting there and where are his shoes?!
Why not write about the house projects that my handy husband and I have started, worked on (tirelessly!) and completed (well, most of them) over the last 3+ years of marriage? That could work. But then there are tons of blogs about home improvement projects (Young House Love is an absolute fave!). I could even include the current projects: creating a “big boy room” for our almost 13 month old son (he’s not really a big boy yet), since his sister is due in early September. She’ll take over the nursery, which will HAVE to be updated with PINK!! So, I could write about a big boy room, a new pink nursery, or tell you all about our dining room re-do, which still needs a little TLC in the way of accessories and tying colors and patterns together.
The last thing I really considered was outdoor living. I love being outside, there’s just something about being in God’s beautiful creation that just makes me feel refreshed, energized and at peace. Even tonight, my husband and I sat outside on the patio after stringing up some fabulous copper lanterns we’d gotten last year at Target on clearance and enjoyed reading our magazines (mine->HGTV Magazine, his->Entrepreneur) and chatting about ideas we had for our backyard. We’ve only been in our home since July of last year, and with a newborn, not much was happening last year in the way of improvements, especially outside since it’s sort of my domain. Some ladies claim the kitchen, I claim the yard….or at least the flowers, plants and overall “look” of the space.
So there we are…all of the things I could write about, so what will I write about? Not sure yet, you’ll just have to wait and see.
Thanks for stopping by.
