Happy New Year!
Happy 2016 everyone!! I hope you and your family rang in the new year with loads of fun!
I am thankful that we did not have a repeat of last year’s new year’s…
We were not wild and crazy, as we have discovered you cannot be wild and crazy with small children in your home. Because they will get up at their normal time and you will have only had 3 hours of sleep! I don’t do well as a walking zombie, either.
I take that back. I was not wild and crazy. Andrew and friends stayed up at our neighbor’s house til 1am playing Catch Phrase {best game ever!} and then when he did come back across the street, he was so wired that he stayed up til 2 watching TV….
I was in bed at 11pm.
Dana and I did get gussied up and went to a little party for an hour or so
We took a family photo before I left 🙂
So here we are in 2016!! What resolutions have you made? Did you tell anyone about them? Statistics show that only 46% of people who make resolutions are still keeping up with them, SIX months later. And a mere 8% are able to keep them throughout the year. If you tell someone, or all your friends on facebook, or some other social media outlet, and ask for accountability, your chances of staying healthy/fit/getting on that treadmill or eating only 2,500 calories a day, increases! {→More fun facts and trivia about New Year’s can be found here ←}
I’m not a resolution-maker. Maybe it’s because I know I won’t keep a resolution(s). What’s the point, I ask? I don’t like being a failure…
The only 2 things that I’m sticking to this year, are reading my She Reads Truth app, every morning {as long as it works…} and the budget.
It’s hard to believe that two years ago I wrote my first post about a budget. I am not a fan of the b-u-d-g-e-t.
BUT, I do believe in the power of a budget, prayer {because I need to pray a lot about my attitude towards it…} and the freedom it can bring.
Andrew and I are back on the Mint train…and if you need help coming up with a budget, or something to help you keep track of your spending habits, Mint is super!
We want to do big things in 2016 and in order for that to happen, Momma needs to reign in some of her “free spending” habits.
I finished setting everything up Saturday night and we had our first “budget meeting” last night to discuss. I can see this being a really dreaded meeting in the future for me…but pray that as long as I stay the course, I’ll get an A+ for my week’s work and Daddy won’t be disappointed.
Have I mentioned that I married a saver? For those of you out there that are spenders married to savers…you understand where I am…
Anyway, here’s to you and your spending or saving, your healthy eating and workout habits, your Bible-reading plans and your staying on track for whatever it is that you want to obtain for 2016! WE CAN DO IT!!
