VBS – Bonus Track
Our kids go to a church daycare here in Columbia and this summer, a few weeks ago, Reynolds had the awesome blessing of attending the church’s VBS. It was a super fun week for him – doing things out of the normal day to day routine. He made crafts, sang and danced, and learned about Jesus.
On the first day we were given a CD of the celebration music for our VBS – Hometown Nazareth was the theme.
As usual, I didn’t quite know what to expect, {the CD cover didn’t help…I half expect Mr. Miyagi to be teaching…} but knowing that we’d been given this music to help Reynolds learn it for the week, I played it. I played it in the morning and in the afternoon – to and from daycare. Some songs were new to me and others I knew from my VBS/camp days.
By the end of the week he was trying his best to say some of the words. He would yell out “YEAH!” in the wrong places, but it was fantastic! He bobbed his head and pumped his arms. He requested certain songs. And then for them to be played “‘gain, momma?”
This past weekend as we drove to the lake, every song he wanted to play again. Andrew and I had to convince him that he would love the next song…that it would be just as exciting. I hate to say it, but thankfully the trip to the lake wasn’t that long. Two loops of the same CD – whatever the CD – can wear on you.
Every morning he asks: “Learn about Jesus, Momma?”
Should I feel really bad if I tell him “no” to the music but that we always have opportunities to learn about Him? And by the way…I almost always play at least the top three songs:

I need some different songs…another CD or two to play for him. And I need your suggestions! Please help this mom maintain her sanity, while helping her little one learn about Jesus!
